This is a souvenir Motto Jug from the Detrick Distilling Co. of Dayton Oh. Detrick made 12 of these jugs with different catchy sayings on them in the early 1900s and gave them away with the purchase of his larger jugs of whiskey. These jugs were made in 2 different styles both with the albany slip uppers and tan bottoms. This jug, in the older style without the box around the writing, stand 4.5 inches tall. It says Eat, drink and be merry. It has just a little roughness around the lip that I have pictured but no larges chips or cracks.
