Wax Sealer - Cunninghams & Ihmsen

More Antique bottles - Back to Bottles

Here is an early fruit jar. It is called a wax sealer because after the fruit was put into it melted wax was put into the groove around the neck and a tin lid was forced down into the wax to seal it and keep the fruit from spoiling. This is a quart size jar and it is marked on the bottom Cunninghams & Imhsens - Pittsburgh, PA. It is in good condition with no chips or cracks.
